Stunning Tiffany Gold and Aquamarine Cross!

25th January 2017

Coming up in this month's antique sale is a very fine quality Tiffany & Co. gold aquamarine and diamond cross pendant/brooch, with an inscription to Reverend Harry Kroll Hamkey, Tenth Anniversary of the Priesthood, 1926 - 1936.

Rev. Hamkey was a graduate of St. John's College, Colorado, and was also one of three former ministers in charge of the Episcopal Church in Clovis, New Mexico. The Living Church Annual 1938 states "Hemkey, Harry Kroll, Presbyter, by the Bishop of New York, December 11, 1936. Deposed at his own request."

Although the frame needs some repairs to return it to its original state, all of the carefully cut intaglio aquamarine panels and diamonds are present and in perfect condition. The miniature Tiffany stamp is located underneath the folding loop on the reverse side of the frame.

The facet cut aquamarines depict 4 cherubs and a tall classical figure. All corners of the cross are then mounted with a trio of diamonds, totalling 24 overall.

This is truly a stand-out piece of jewellery.

UPDATE: The Tiffany Cross made a whopping £8,400 under the hammer and surprised everyone in the room. What a result!
